Mina Walking a été présenté en première mondiale et nominé dans la catégorie meilleur long métrage au Festival du film à Berlin. C’est un film qui est acclamé pour son style documentaire dressant un portrait de l’Afghanistan moderne.

Montreal’s World Film Festival is proud to present Mina Walking, a docu-drama depicting the realities of war-ridden Afghanistan. Mina Walking premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Best First Feature award, and it has received international recognition for its documentary-style portrait of contemporary Afghanistan.

Mina, 12 ans, cuisine, coud, fait le lavage et vend ses bricoles dans les rues de Kaboul ravagées par la guerre afin de nourrir son père héroïnomane ainsi que son grand-père sénile. Mina désire une vie normale. Pour y arriver, elle suit secrètement des cours; une décision qui engendre une suite d’événements qui changent sa vie pour toujours.

Twelve-year-old Mina cooks, sews, washes, and works selling knick-knacks on the war-ravaged streets of Kabul to feed her Alzheimer’s-stricken grandfather and her heroin-addicted father. But Mina wants to lead a normal life, so she secretly attends classes—a decision that sets in motion a chain of events that change her life forever.
